Who is highly-regarded Livramento, on Chelsea’s bench vs Man City?

Who is Valentino Livramento, the explosive right-back on Chelsea’s bench vs Man City?

The surprise inclusion of Valentino Livramento on Chelsea’s bench to face Manchester City has turned heads this evening, but who exactly is the 18-year-old?

Blues youngster

Englishman Livramento has long stood as one of the most highly regarded talents on the books at Stamford Bridge.

The teen is a versatile performer who generally lines out in a wing-back role on the right. He is also more than capable of featuring in either a more traditional full-back role, or even on the wing, though.

This comes with Livramento’s most impressive traits often showcased in the final-third.

He has earned widespread praise for a stellar blend of pace, ability in one-on-one situations, final ball and, perhaps above all else, outstanding fitness levels.

Despite his tender years, the starlet has therefore managed to prove himself as one of, if not the standout performer for Chelsea’s U23 side to this point in the campaign.

Bombing up and down the right flank with equal vigour and quality, Livramento has racked up an impressive two goals and six assists across 20 Premier League 2 appearances.

In a further six appearances between the EFL Trophy and FA Youth Cup, meanwhile, he has directly contributed to an extra five goals.

Livramento’s abilities have also seen him recognised at international level, with the 18-year-old already an established U20 international for England.

City debut?

And, as outlined above, on Saturday, Thomas Tuchel has become the latest individual to reward Chelsea’s up-and-coming right-back.

With the likes of Thiago Silva, Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell rested on the back of fine respective displays en route to booking the Blues’ spot in the Champions League final in midweek, Livramento has been called up for senior duty for the first time.

This comes with Chelsea set to face off with table-topping Manchester City, in a crunch Premier League showdown.

Tuchel and co. remain in the thick of the top-4 battle as things stand, and will no doubt be desperate to avoid defeat at the Etihad, so as not to leave their Champions League hopes for next season solely on emerging victorious from the competition’s showpiece occasion later this month.
