Thiago Silva contract extension to be trigged in coming weeks

Thiago Silva contract extension to be trigged in coming weeks/ Chelsea to start negotiations with Kante in next months

Thiago Silva impressing with Chelsea

Thiago Silva, of course, joined Chelsea over the summer following the expiration of his deal with PSG.

And the Brazilian, despite his age, has gone on to prove a solid signing for the Blues.

Granted, he does now lack the kind of pace which fans were once accustomed to. But the stopper’s experience nevertheless appears to have had a really positive impact on the Londoners.

Under Thomas Tuchel especially, Chelsea have been a seriously solid defensive unit and Silva, despite his age, has continued to play a big role in that.

The Brazilian’s big-game experience has also been crucial in helping Chelsea navigate their way to both the FA Cup final and Champions League final under Tuchel.

Silva to stay at Chelsea

So, despite him turning 37 in September, Chelsea fans are no doubt keen to see Silva stay at Chelsea for as long as possible as even if he is not playing every single game, his experience and leadership qualities are still hugely positive for the Blues.

Silva’s current contract, which runs until the end of this season, does have the option to be extended by a year.

And, according to a recent update from Fabrizio Romano, Silva is set to stay at Chelsea and his contract extension will be triggered in the next weeks.

Romano goes on to add that Chelsea will start contract negotiations with both N’Golo Kante and Jorginho in the next months:
