Luke Shaw in line for a new contract at Manchester United

Luke Shaw in line for a new contract at Manchester United

Shaw impressing

It is fair to say that Luke Shaw is experiencing one of his best-ever seasons in a Manchester United shirt.

When Alex Telles arrived at Old Trafford on deadline day last summer, many no doubt assumed that Shaw would play back-up to the Brazilian.

However, Shaw’s sensational form throughout the campaign has limited Telles to a bit-part role with the Manchester outfit.

Shaw has notched six assists and one goal in all competitions this season, and is rivalling the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to creating goalscoring chances:

Shaw’s superb season has even seen him take the spotlight off Bruno Fernandes somewhat, with the defender actually bagging Man United’s last two Player of the Month awards.

And, with Euro 2020 around the corner, Shaw too looks to be once again back in favour with Gareth Southgate, challenging Ben Chilwell for a starting berth this summer.

Shaw set for new Man United deal

As well as some personnel accolades, Shaw’s fine form also looks set to see him rewarded with a new contract.

Shaw’s current deal with United runs until 2022, but according to a report from the Daily Star, Shaw is in line for a new contract at United as a reward for his superb season.

The stopper’s current deal is said to be worth £150,000-a- week.

However, his new deal would, according to the DS, see him earn a weekly pay rise of £40,000 and extend his contract until 2026.
