England and Great Britain have, in Zach Wallace, one of the top three hockey players in the world heading into the two-month tournament cauldron of EuroHockey and the Olympics.
That’s the view of England team-mate David Ames, who is anticipating Wallace to continue his form as well as rekindling his own love of these European Championships, which start for Danny Kerry’s side on Saturday morning against Russia.
“This is probably a big bold statement but he is probably one of the top three players in the world,” said Ames, who was one of England’s standout players in 2019, despite the team performing below par.
