Chelsea supporters highlight Ballon d’Or injustice after hard-fought win over Brentford

The Chelsea faithful have taken to social media in their numbers on Saturday evening, to react to the latest dazzling display on the part of no.1 Edouard Mendy.

Chilwell the difference

Thomas Tuchel led his side back into action a short time ago.

After reestablishing their spot atop the Premier League table despite a tough run of fixtures heading into the international break, the Blues made the short trip to the Brentford Community Stadium, aiming to make it two wins from two.

And, when all was said and done, rack up a 6th win of the English top-flight campaign is precisely what Chelsea managed.

A hard-fought 90 minutes, during which hosts Brentford rattled the woodwork on multiple occasions, ultimately culminated in the Pensioners emerging on the right side of a 1-0 scoreline.

Ben Chilwell, firmly back in form and favour on the back of a difficult start to the season, proved match-winner on the day, lashing home a wonderful half-volley from the edge of the area on the stroke of the interval:

Mendy hailed

Whilst, in the end, it was the aforementioned Chilwell who made the difference at the Brentford Community Stadium, though, it is in fact another of Chelsea’s stars who has since been singled out as the true deciding factor in the latest three-point haul secured by Tuchel’s men.

The player in question? Edouard Mendy.

Shot-stopper Mendy was in absolutely inspired form this evening, coming to the rescue of the visitors time and time again as Brentford threw everything but the kitchen sink forward towards the game’s close.

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of the Senegalese’s surprise Ballon d’Or shortlist snub being widely highlighted online, with just some of the many Twitter posts showcased below:
